Environment Week -2017

Environment Week was celebrated in DPS Mathura Refinery Nagar with great enthusiasm from 18 April 2017 to 21 April 2017 with the aim to sensitize the students about their duties towards Mother Earth and facilitate them to be a part of yearlong activities of Eco Club of DPS MRN and hence mobilizing them to protect the environment.
Day 01, on 18th April 2017 witnessed School’s Reuse Program (Art and Craft)“Best out of waste” for students of Classes VI to X. In School’s Reuse Program , a brainstorming session was conducted with the kids on how together we can recycle more and reduce waste at our school by using  recycling bins for bottles /cans/CDs etc. In this event, 60 students from class VI to X along with Eco Club Team participated and converted waste into best usable items .The programme was graced by the Principal Dr. G.P.Pandey

Day 2, 19th April 2017 had an activity “Explore Nature with colours” for students of Classes III to V who participated in creating art work on topic “Conserve Nature for better future”.
Eco club organized “Explore Nature with colours”  with a view that there is so much for kids to see, enjoy, and learn in nature and make them connect and explore with birds, involve in composting, gardening, and other activities.

Day 3, 20th April 2017 involved senior secondary students in “Learning solid waste management system”. The Eco club organised an educational excursion of senior students to the Solid Waste Treatment Plant, located at MR Nagar Mathura as part of the earth day celebration in the School.
 Day 4, 21st April 2017 had a guest speaker in the morning assembly to apprise everyone about Nature and its components. It was a really inspiring and eye opening experience for all. The students were informed by Mr Yatin Agarwal Deputy Manager IOCL that  almost a thousand Kg of solid waste arrives in the Plant everyday from various parts of the township which is  first manually segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and the biodegradable and kitchen waste is first crushed into pieces, can be used for vermin-composting in especially made long pits to convert it into enriched manure.

The finale had a special morning assembly to learn more about nature with the Guest Speaker Mr B.K.Asthana, Chief Manager Estate Office expressing his views on nature in general and water in particular on environmental awareness.The day had a showstopper in the form of Environmental Exhibition, which displayed the art and craft reuse work of students from class 3 to 12. The Environmental Exhibition was inaugurated by Mr B.K.Asthana, Chief Manager Estate Office in presence of Vice Principal Mrs Jayashri Sharma. The Eco Club Co-ordinator, Mr S K Singh presented the final report before the school motivating one and all to lend a helping hand in the mission of Environment Protection and Awareness. The School Principal, Dr G P Pandey appreciated the efforts put in by the team and reiterated that DPS MRians possess the missionary zeal of fulfilling environmental obligations
